Reduce “Phone Number Clutter” with GrandCentral
Recently Google-ized web application GrandCentral promises to end the common geek affliction of “too many phone numbers”. Just got a new iPhone, but not completely sold on the AT&T service yet and want to keep your old phone? GrandCentral allows you to ring both phones simultaneously when someone calls and pick it up on the phone you’re using at the time. Quite slick.
The way it works is this, GrandCentral gives you a new phone number, which you ideally give out to all your friends and your BFF Jill. You then enter your home, cell, work, mistress’ apartment, etc. numbers into the GC interface and it’ll ring them when someone calls your GC number. Amazing, you say? But wait, there’s more…
GC also has the ability to filter the calls to certain phones based on who’s calling and to not send calls to your home phone during business hours. Did I mention they give you voicemail space too and that voicemail is random-access just like the nifty “Visual Voicemail” on the iPhone?
You can also filter out callers as “Spam” and GC will never ring your phone for them again. Perfect for those annoying tele-beggars and politicians who’re allowed to call even those on the no-call list (I’m looking at YOU Police Benevolent Association!).
In short, GrandCentral rocks. Go check it out and get on the waiting list. I’ll also be offering invites to the first three commenters on this post who want them. Just make sure you fill in your correct first/last name and email address so I can get the invites sent out.
